What Is Biblical Counseling

Through biblical counseling at New King, you will meet with a trained counselor who will seek to understand you well, and to point you to the person of Christ. Her goal is not primarily to give you advice, but to walk alongside you and offer you hope and encouragement. You can expect to find hope that you might experience growth healing through Christ over time, and that you can find hope in His presence with you even now, in the midst of your struggle. 

Grace Sunderland

​Grace received a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Health with a Counseling Emphasis from Arizona Christian University, and has completed two certificate programs from the CCEF School of Biblical Counseling. Grace has experience counseling women at Aspire Now (Burlington's pregnancy resources center) and is excited to help start a counseling ministry at New King. Grace has been comforted by sisters in Christ who showed her the love of Jesus during difficult times. She has a passion to bring this kind of support and comfort to others. Grace’s hobbies include reading and calligraphy lettering, and she is beginning to get the hang of pickleball. More than anything, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Counseling services are currently only available for New King members and regular attenders. You can book a session by emailing Grace at [email protected]. Appointments are available hourly on Mondays between 9am and 4pm, and sessions will be held in the upstairs of the barnhouse at NKC. Before you meet with your counselor, we will have you fill out some paperwork in advance so that your counselor can prepare to meet with you, and so that you can understand our policies. At New King Church, we respect your privacy and will keep your information confidential. Your counselor looks forward to meeting with you soon!

COUNSELING CONFERENCE

On September 7, 2024, New King hosted a 3 session biblical counseling conference entitled Helping Other Around You: Biblical Counseling Basics for Every Christian. Speaker Andy Engert, the Executive Director at CCEF New England gave 3 plenary talks on how all believers can grow in the biblical mindset of counseling others that we do life with.
